1. Introduction and scope
This Privacy Policy ("Policy") describes how Investor Things ("we", "our", "us", or "the App") collects, uses, stores, and protects your information when you use our mobile application and related services. It applies to all users of the Investor Things app on Android (and any other platforms where the App is offered).
By using the App, you agree to the practices described in this Policy. If you do not agree, please do not use the App.
2. Information we collect
We collect information in the following ways.
2.1 Information you provide
- Account and profile: Name, email address, password (stored in hashed form), profile photo, and any other details you add in "Edit profile".
- Chat and communications: Text messages, voice messages, images, videos, and files you send in Admin chat, Community chat, or any in-app chat.
- Feed and community: Posts, comments, reactions (e.g. likes), statuses, and any content you publish in the feed or community sections.
- Support or contact: Any information you send when contacting us (e.g. support emails).
2.2 Information collected automatically
- Device and app: Device type, operating system, app version, language, and similar technical data needed to run and improve the App.
- Usage: How you use the App (e.g. screens visited, actions taken) to fix errors, improve performance, and understand usage patterns.
- Network: IP address and network status (e.g. online/offline) for connectivity and security.
2.3 Information from permissions
When you grant permissions, we use them only as described below.

We do not use the microphone, camera, or storage for advertising, tracking, or any purpose other than the features described above.
3. How we use your information
We use the information we collect to:
- Provide the App: Create and manage your account, show courses, exams, communities, feed, and chat; deliver voice messages, media, and notifications.
- Process payments: Enable purchases (courses, exams, community access) via our payment provider; verify and record transactions.
- Improve the App: Fix bugs, improve performance, and develop new features using aggregated or anonymized data where possible.
- Security and fraud: Protect accounts, detect and prevent abuse, and enforce our terms.
- Support: Respond to your questions and support requests.
- Legal and compliance: Comply with applicable laws and respond to lawful requests from authorities.
We do not sell your personal data to third parties for their marketing.
4. Legal basis (where applicable)
Where laws such as the GDPR or similar apply:
- Contract: Processing necessary to provide the App and services you use (account, chat, courses, payments).

- Backend and infrastructure: Your data is stored and processed on our servers (and associated cloud/infrastructure providers) to run the App.
- Payment provider (Razorpay): For course, exam, and community payments we use Razorpay. Payment details (e.g. card) are handled by Razorpay according to their privacy policy; we receive and store only what we need (e.g. transaction id, amount, status) to complete and record the purchase.
- Content delivery: Media (images, video, audio) may be delivered via content delivery networks (e.g. CloudFront) to improve speed and reliability.
- Legal and safety: We may disclose data if required by law, or to protect rights, safety, or property.
We do not sell or rent your personal data to third parties for their marketing.
6. Data retention
- Account and profile: Retained while your account is active and for a reasonable period after deletion for backup, legal, or support purposes.
- Chat and feed content: Retained as long as needed to provide the service and as required by law or our policies.
- Voice messages and media: Stored on our systems to display in chat; subject to the same retention as chat content.
- Payment records: Retained as required for accounting, tax, and dispute resolution (typically as required by law).
- Logs and technical data: Retained for a limited period for security and troubleshooting, then deleted or anonymized.
You may request deletion of your personal data; we will do so except where we must retain it by law.
7. Data security
We use industry-standard measures to protect your data, including:
- Encrypted connections (HTTPS/TLS) for data in transit.
- Secure storage and access controls on our servers.
- Authentication (e.g. login tokens) to protect your account.
No system is 100% secure. You are responsible for keeping your password and device secure.
8. Data storage and international transfer
Data may be stored and processed in India. If you are in a different country, your data may be transferred to and processed in that location. We ensure appropriate safeguards (e.g. contracts, standard clauses) where required by law.

- Login token: To keep you signed in.
- Cached media: Downloaded chat media (images, audio, video) for faster viewing; you can clear app data to remove it.
- Preferences: App settings you choose.
This data stays on your device (or in your account on our servers) and is used only to provide and improve the App.
12. Cookies and similar technologies
The App is a mobile application and does not use browser cookies. We may use similar technologies (e.g. device identifiers or tokens) only to operate the App, authenticate you, and improve the service, as described in this Policy.
13. Third-party services and links
The App may link to third-party websites or services (e.g. Razorpay, external links in content). This Policy does not apply to those third parties. We encourage you to read their privacy policies.

We may update this Policy from time to time. We will post the updated Policy in the App or on our website and change the "Last updated" date. If changes are significant, we may notify you in the App or by email. Continued use of the App after the change means you accept the updated Policy.
